How people agree to texts from rushproof
rushproof runs after-hours emergency phone lines for strata and property management firms in British Columbia, operated by ventr Labs Inc. Texts are sent from +1 833-579-7874 only about an emergency the person reported or agreed to handle.
Message frequency varies by emergency. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts, HELP for help.
Residents who call the emergency line
The automated assistant greets every caller with:
"Emergency desk, this is rushproof, the automated assistant. This call is written down. What's happening?"
Before any text, it asks whether the caller's phone can receive texts. On a water emergency it asks:
"Would it help if I texted you the shut-off steps?"
A text is sent only after the caller says yes. Then a status text is sent once a plumber or manager accepts the job.
These are the exact texts a resident receives:
the management office: how to stop the water. 1. Look under the sinks and behind the toilet for a small valve on the pipe. Turn the handle to the right (clockwise) until it stops. If it is a lever, turn it so it sits across the pipe. 2. If the water is coming from somewhere else, look for your unit's main valve, often in a closet or near the hot water tank or washer. 3. Keep away from water near outlets, panels or appliances. Do not touch anything electrical while standing in water. If anyone is hurt or in danger, call 9-1-1.
The management office. A plumber has confirmed and is coming to 100 Test Street, unit 306. They have your number and have been asked to call you when they are on the way. If water is still running and you can reach the shut off safely, please do. If anything changes, call back on the number you called.
Plumbers, managers and office staff
They agree in writing before they are added to a firm's call list, using this statement:
"I agree to receive automated emergency dispatch phone calls and text messages from rushproof, on behalf of the firm named above, at any hour of the day or night, about emergencies at the buildings listed. I understand that pressing 1 on the call, then 1 again when asked, accepts the job, and a plumber can press 2 if they can't take it. I can stop these calls and texts at any time by telling the firm in writing."
